About Hypnosis

"What if I can't be hypnotised?"
Everybody can be hypnotised providing they want to do so. Some people make very good hypnotic subjects, other people can develop their skills with hypnosis.

"Can I be made to do things against my will?"
Hypnosis is not brain washing. You cannot be made to do anything against your will, in, or out of hypnosis.

"What if I get 'stuck' in hypnosis?"
This is impossible. Should the need arise you could open your eyes at any time, and you remain in control at all times.

"What does hypnosis feel like?"
Everyone experiences hypnosis differently. After a hypnosis session most people report a profound feeling of inner peace and wellbeing. People generally report that they felt fully in control and were aware throughout the session.

"Is Hypnosis safe?"
Hypnosis is perfectly safe. No drugs are required and there are no unwanted side effects. Poorly conducted hypnosis, at worst, is only likely to be ineffective.

"Are there some issues for which hypnosis cannot be used?"

Most hypnotherapists are trained to deal with common emotional and physical problems and would not work with psychiatric conditions such as schitzophrenia, bi-polar, and clinical (endogenous) depression.

What is hypnosis?

Hypnosis is an altered state of awareness in which your mind is open and receptive to positive suggestions given by the therapist. Thoughts, feelings and behaviours can easily be changed and modified in hypnosis.

Hypnosis involves a pleasant state of deep relaxation. It has been called a 'relaxation of the nervous system', which simply means a relaxation of the mind and body.

Various research studies have shown that hypnosis is effective for a wide range of emotional and physical conditions.

How does hypnosis work?

There are conscious and subconscious levels of the mind. The conscious mind is likened to the tip of an iceberg. It is the part of you that you are conscious of, and the part of your mind that you use to make decisions. The subconscious mind, however, is likened to the submerged parts of an iceberg, which by contrast are often immense, yet hidden under the ocean.

The subconscious mind is the repository of past experiences, emotions, habitual behaviours and beliefs. It is known as the 'seat of the emotions', and is also responsible for healing and regulating the body.

The subconscious mind is programmed through the experiences of life. It can be programmed for success or failure. If you react to situations in a way you feel powerless to control, or experience uncomfortable thoughts and feelings, or find you sabbotage your goals then you are experiencing the forces of your subconscious mind.

Imagine if instead of holding you back, your subconscious mind was programmed with the right beliefs, ideas and emotions to propell you towards your goals and help you create the life you want.

Hypnosis is the key that unlocks the door to your subconscious mind enabling you to change your thoughts, feelings and behaviour, replacing a negative mindset with a postive mindset, and releasing the inner blocks to happines and fulfillment in life.
